McConnell brought pro ball back to Utica (The Observer-Dispatch)
He wasn't Babe Ruth, but Amby McConnell was an accomplished major league baseball player. McConnnell's lasting legacy, however, is based on this: He brought professional baseball back to Utica after a long hiatus, and he also built a fondly remembered ballpark. For that, he will be inducted into the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame June 1.
